What Are You Reading?

Slice of Life Stories, Hosted by Ruth and Stacey of Two Writing Teachers!

Right now I am in the midst of many reads. Sometimes that's good and sometimes it's a good kind of overwhelming.
I still read and re-read sections of my book of books, Talking, Drawing, Writing by Horn and Giacobbe.
I started reading Wonder by R. J. Palacio over the weekend because it is all the talk. (I also bought The Book of Awesome...haven't started it yet, but was inspired by another one of you slicers to get it)! By the way, Wonder has not disappointed and I had to force myself to put it down yesterday. I linked the book trailer above.
I am reading Mummies in the Morning (Magic Tree House) to my six and four year old, they are loving it and I love reading it to them!
I am still in the middle of my most recent edition of Cook's Country, the best cooking magazine ever (in my opinion of course). It is made for cooks who love to read and written by cooks who love to write about cooking. My fave! I will post a recipe sometime this month; cooking is another love of mine.
I think that completes the list of what I am actually reading currently. The book stack is still there as I whittle away at it and of course add to it!

  1. I'll be looking forward to that recipe and maybe a review of the current reads? I've heard a lot about Wonder...can't wait to see what you have to say about it!

  2. I too just started Wonder, and I too am not disappointed. Though the week is sure to slow my reading pace down a bit!

  3. For the past five days, I have read blogs until my eyes won't focus, and I am loving it. What a great question to ask. And, from the sound of it, I am going to have to get Wonder.

    1. I call that "blogger eye strain." I think it is a common ailment during slice of life challenge season!

  5. I just finished State of Wonder and loved it. Also have a few books about teaching and assessment going. And of course I have been reading lots of slices.

  7. Just about to finish Wonder-We have a book group! I like that you are reading the Treehouse books-I have fond memories of them with my grandson. Thanks for telling about the good books, especially the cooking one. I haven't heard of it.

  8. Wonder is one of the books I will remember forever. Still remember each character and the messages.
Read it with a grade 6 class (part time 6 ELA teacher and part time literacy lead that year)...and it was a busy class. We had our most magical times when I read to them, especially when I read this one.
