I Am Not (I Am)

I have the day off tomorrow. Nothing could be sweeter after a week of conferences and craziness going on in my classroom right now. I was thinking today after reading a few slices about how I define myself, and realized, I don't. And, I'm okay with that.

This piece was inspired by, I-Here-Now, and Robin Sheldon, thanks for taking me in this direction.

I am not:

defined
refined

delusional
exclusional

afraid
swayed

untamed
ashamed

I am:

musical
whimsical

educated
dedicated

peaceful
grateful

upbeat
with a heartbeat.

  2. I love it! I think you touched on why it was hard. It is not easy to define yourself like this. But, I think you did a great job of it! Nicely done!

  4. It is so hard to define oneself, you were able to do it with a rhyme, which did not surprise me. Nice!

  5. That was interesting because I too was self evaluating in a different sort of way. Sometimes I get wrapped up in what I am not. So much more positive when you think about what you are.

  6. I also marked Robin's post as a mentor slice, although I am finding this piece of writing difficult for me. Maybe it is because of how hard it is to define oneself. I love how you added rhyme to yours. Enjoy your day off tomorrow. After conferences, I know you deserve it.

  7. And this is what I adore about you. No one can put you in a box and say you are just one way, one thing, or one type of person. You're unique. And that's a very special way to be!

    Enjoy your day off tomorrow!
