The Magic of Silver
I remember the day. I got my first set of 64 crayola crayons. I remember looking over all the colors and being in awe of the silver and gold.
Today I had a student ask me for a gray. Needless to say, I couldn't find one anywhere. I do have a stash of a few silver and gold crayons tucked away in one of my cupboards, so I brought out a silver. You should have seen the sparkle in his eyes.
"A silver? Gage, Gage, we've got a silver!?"

It's so humbling to notice what really wow's kids. We need to re-capture that wonder more often. Thanks for doing that here.

ReplyDeleteMy wife still enjoys getting a box, tower, whatever of crayons. Just like Disney, they open up a world of color.

ReplyDeleteFunny ~ crayons have been taking an odd center stage in my life lately... for reasons I can't begin to explain (yet). Your post adds to the fascination (and mystery). Thanks for sharing such a neat moment in time... a true 'slice' to savor.
ReplyDeleteNoticed after I commented that Blogger placed an ugly "-" and a message about not being able to see my profile... I'm a former Blogger user, but can be found over at WP: robinlk.com (no mystery here... lol)
ReplyDeleteI don't remember if I like silver and gold because they were socially ingrained as better,or whether I liked them because they simply were superior colors. Anyway, each can be a cause and each an effect! Life !!!
