Why Does it Always Happen at 2 AM?

"AAAaaaahhhh! Mom!"
"I'm up, I'm up! What's wrong?"

And then, there is the sound. You know what sound I'm talking about. The dreaded sound of your child getting sick. UGH!

I grab the trash can from her room, but I am too late. Double ugh.

This means:

Run some water
Child goes in the tub
I clean the bedding
The bed
Prep the bathroom
Make up a new bed
Clean, clean, sanitize, sanitize
Wash my hands about fifteen times
Pray I don't get it too

Why must these things always happen at 2 in the morning?

  1. Poor you! Now on top of the stress and worry of a sick kid you will be tired too. I know it will not be any consolation, but you captured it well. I hope she is feeling better soon.

  3. So sorry to hear one of life's dreaded interruptions snuck up on you in the middle of the night! I hope your child recovers quickly and you remain healthy. Here's to better days :) I'm impressed you were able to capture the moment despite your worry and weariness.

  4. Ugh, I hope you don't get it. It's a sound we all dread and you captured that it's not just the momentary (hour-long) clean up, it's the promise of more to come as the sound spreads like the germs it represents.

  5. I've often wondered why it's the same thing with the dogs... middle of night, or on weekends when the regular vet is closed and the expensive emergency hospital is the only option. I hope your daughter is alright and that you escaped it!

  6. Hope she feels better soon! At least it happened on Friday night when you could rest up the next morning :)

  9. Ugh is right-so sorry. And you're right, it does happen at 2am, or at school with their teacher! Hope it's all over & you're fine, too, Betsy.

  10. I remember those days with my daughter when she was little. It does seem that these things usually happen during the wee hours of the morning or is it we remember them best because of the time they occur? Not sure which it is. Hope your little one is feeling much better and you were able to get a little more rest.

  12. Oh no!! I'm so sorry! That is the worst sound, worst feeling of panic mixed with dread. It's always in the middle of the night at my house too! Feel better soon to her and fingers crossed for the rest of you! Take care my friend!
