Commenting
So, how do you decide who gets a comment? I am going to play a game tonight. Join me? I will start with one blog, comment, check out the commenter right before me on that post, then read the post of that person. Make sense? If I come to a blog that doesn't have any comments prior to mine, I will pick randomly and start again! Let's get the comments rolling and see all there is out there. I feel like I am missing some great ones and maybe this will help me see someone new. Maybe I will get some fresh inspiration.
You should try it too!
How will you comment today?
Oh, and by the way, my friend Robin's slice today is hilarious and I told her she had to write the story. If you are brave enough, go read it.

I read your friend's slice. It was hilarious! I giggled and giggled as I read it. I'm going to try this a few times! I MUST get started on my grad class. Eventually. :)
ReplyDeleteI will try this tomorrow (though, of course, I'm going to start with Kendra right now). Thanks for the suggestion!
ReplyDeleteI am so random in choosing blogs to read....I was thinking I should be more systematic in an attempt to make some lasting connections.
ReplyDeleteMe too. I choose ones that have been posted recently since I usually post late at night, but I think I am missing out on developing relationships. I have started to follow a few people, thought I don't comment on them every day.
DeleteI am usually a random commenter, but I'm going to try this tonight! Thanks for the idea. I wonder which is better: random commenting or sticking with the same people for a month...
ReplyDeleteI usually am random too...will check sometimes for those with no comments and then start there...often going down the line or doing every third blog. I like your idea...and I will right now check out your friend's. I like a good laugh. Jackie http://familytrove.blogspot.com/
ReplyDeleteGreat idea. I've always regretted not being able to read and comment more. My first year I devoted one day to commenting on EVERY other person's post, but with over 130 posts now, this is not possible. I'll give your method a try.

ReplyDeleteThis is a great idea Betsy! Thanks for the shout out too!
ReplyDeleteI kind of search for interesting subject lines or titles... That was why I stopped by. Also, if I'm on my Kindle, I can access but not comment on Wordpress blogs... So then I only read blogspot.
ReplyDeleteI am a random... Although I usually also try read and comment on those that comment on mine.
ReplyDeleteI have a few regulars that I comment and then I comment on as many as I have time for. You want to read something funny, read Laura's post today. Here is the link: http://writingwithoutaniche.blogspot.com/
ReplyDeleteCommenting stresses me out. I try and comment on as many blogs as I can - or tweet out the links - but when you subscribe to so many blogs, it is overwhelming. There are so many good posts out there, it reminds me of my to read stacks. Never enough time.
ReplyDeleteCommenting this month has been a constant challenge. The other day I came up with a method for next year I wanted to challenge myself to comment at least once on every blog like Stacey did, but I didn't know how I'd keep track. I started an Excel document where I list the name of the blog (excel will alphabetize for me). Also, I can list posts that I've liked so I can find them again. I'm constantly losing posts that I want to bookmark for one reason of another. No more time tonight, but I may play your game tomorrow! Great idea, Betsy!
ReplyDeleteWouldn't it be nice if we could edit our comments? I try to follow Linda's advice to write fast and then I make mistakes!
DeleteLove this!! I tried so hard on Sunday to get through everyone's posts. I literally ran out of time in the day at 77 and was SO disappointed. However, I know there isn't one that I wouldn't want to follow and read daily, and I think sometimes not getting to EVERYONE is God's gift to me to be a productive human being, other than blog reading. :) haha. This, however, is an awesome method, and I will enjoy my blog-hopping!
ReplyDeleteJenbaum you are amazing! 77 comments! Wow! Betsy, I think I'm going to borrow your idea and write a post about commenting tomorrow as well! Let's spread the love!
ReplyDeleteGreat idea, but first off to the school day. I wish I could stay in my PJs all day and read blogs!
ReplyDeleteI'm definitely doing this today! Great idea! I try to hit about about 30 a night, if my kids let me :)
ReplyDeleteBetsy,
ReplyDeleteThis commenting piece has been my struggle. I try to always comment on the three posts right before mine when I like to the blog. Then I try to go to some of the people I know in the challenge. Then I try to spend some time on my class posts. I like your idea for this commenting game. It sounds fun so I'm going to give it a try.
